After auditors determined that the Jefferson County Sewer Board did not have adequate funds to pay for construction of three large tunneling and piping projects already under contract, the Sewer Board terminated those contracts for convenience. The Sewer Board employed Pearson to evaluate and negotiate settlements of each of the contractors termination for convenience claims. Some of the contractors had purchased specialized tunneling equipment that could not be utilized on other tunneling projects ongoing in the United States. All claims were successfully resolved.
