The Retirement Systems of Alabama booked convention events based on projected project completion dates. When this project was approximately 50% complete and trending to complete months after its planned opening date, Pearson was retained to provided scheduling and management Consulting services to assist the contractor, designer and owner in achieving timely completion. Pearson prepared new completion schedules, monitored actual progress and chaired weekly schedule meetings. The project was completed on time. This project included the remodeling of an existing convention facility and addition of a four-star 350-room hotel, additional meeting space, restaurants, retail outlets, 8,000 square foot European style spa and an 1,800-seat performing arts theater. All work occurred in a tightly constrained downtown area, abutted on all sides by streets busy during the day, thus requiring detailed logistics planning for materials, equipment and labor.
